The Tiny Vlog: WordPress Plugins

A plugin actually is functionality or
an add-on to your WordPress core that gives it some behavior and functionality
that the theme doesn’t have. So choosing a plugin is very important. You have to
do the homework, you have to search the plugin page, and there are some key
things you need to be aware of when you’re choosing a plugin because
there’s several plugins out there that may do the same thing or may or may not
have the capabilities of what you’re looking for. But there is definitely some
homework that needs to be done: One, is visit the plugin page on WordPress.org.
Second, first thing you look for is the compatibility – is it compatible with the
WordPress core version that you’re using? How old is the plugin, when was it
created – because if it was developed last week, you really don’t want to be the
guinea pig. Make sure it’s updated. You know, make sure it’s updated, you know,
constantly being well maintained by the developer. Look how many downloads are
there. If there’s a hundred or a thousand downloads, it’s not that popular. Look for
hundreds of thousands of downloads and then you’re pretty much safe. Lastly,
definitely look at the reviews, look what other people are saying about this
plugin. Maybe they have a similar website or have similar components that you have
and they’re having issues with this certain plugin. Or maybe there’s just
raving reviews on the plugin. If you want to learn more, call us or visit our
