Hello everyone I’m Greg and this is
Geadz Gaming and today I’m gonna show you a tutorial on how to get NetBeans to
run C and C++ using the cygwin compiler so we can go open the open our
NetBeans IDE and if you see if you go up to file new project usually I have only
used it for Java but I want to use it for C because that’s what I’m doing in
my school and I don’t want to use dreaded code blocks so as you can see
right now we don’t have an option to create a C or C++ file so what we need
to do is go up here to tools we’re going to go down the plugins we’re going to
click available plugins and we can search for C and C++ we’re going to want
to click the one right here that has the little NetBeans certified plugin and
we’re gonna click install I’ll just accept everything and install alright
and I’m gonna restart the IDE later because we’re gonna have to download the
cygwin compiler and get everything set up with that so we’re just going to
do that later we’re gonna close this next we’re gonna have to download the c
YG lin compiler i will give all the necessary download links in the
description so we’re going to want to go to cygwin.com i’m gonna go to install
cygwin, choose your bit version either 32 or 64 and click that wait for it to
finish kind of click yes next X all right here you can use a
proxy if your auto proxy but im just going to do direct connection um right
here just has a bunch of mirror sites to pick I just picked the first one works
out alright so here we’re gonna have to download for packages to get NetBeans to
be able to use C and C++ so from the NetBeans website official NetBeans
website it’s gonna tell us that we’re gonna have to download these four
packages so what I’m gonna do first change this from category to full to
kind of make it easier to see everything find the first package GCC slash core
just going to go type this up in the search box and it’s going to be right
here so GCC slash board GNU Compiler so what you’re going to want to do is click
the skip and that means it’s going to give you a version it once installed I’m
gonna click it a couple more times to get the latest version so the second one
we need is GCC / g + + and same thing the latest version the third one is
going to be gdb the GNU debugger the GNU debugger here tip the latest
version alright and then the last one is going to be make the G new version of
the make utility find that right here do the same thing 42-point
alright and then once you get all four we’re gonna click Next
how to minimize it mr. webcam is in the way and click Next download and we’re good so I do not want
to create a desktop icon or a start menu icon because it’s just kind of gonna sit
in the background just gonna help us compile so I don’t really feel the need
to have an icon go finish that and then once we do this we’re gonna have to go
and set something up in your computer you have Windows 10 come down to the
type you search we are going to enter variables right here it says edit the
system environment variables and click that we are going to click Edit
variables we’re going to come down to where it says path and we’re going to
click Edit we’re click new and from here we’re
going to go to our file click see and find the see yg win 64 we right click
copy address as text exit out of that go back in the new and paste that right
into there so now we look we have the c YG win 64 in our environment the
variables click OK click OK click OK alright so now we should be able to go
back in NetBeans and be able to have a C and C++ project so I’m going to go to
file new project and as you can see C and C++ pops up it’s not just Java so I
can go to a new C C++ application click Next as you can see everything’s working
now – click finish and go to the source the
main and run it see if that works and run successful we can now use NetBeans
to C and C++ alright so there we have it I just wanted to make this tutorial
because it was a little little confusing sometimes so I just want to make a video
to try to help people out if you liked the video please like and subscribe I’ll
try and release more tutorial videos but might be hard because I’m doing five
classes this semester but I will try to help you guys out as much as possible
thank you
