Hi everybody, I’m Kirsty Meakin from Naio Nails. In this video, we are going to finish the gorgeous icy blue design to match the beautiful dress that I’ve got. We’re gonna do my thumb. So don’t forget, to give us a thumbs up. Just gonna wipe over with some gel residue wipe off solution, give that a nice clean. Don’t forget, I bet you’ve all forgot, you know, that I’m working with me cack hand. I’m working with me left hand. I’m not very good at doing anything with me left hand, so, you know, please forgive me. So, I’m gonna dehydrate my nail with the nail prep dehydrator. Then we’re gonna prime, certain coat of primer. So today, on this nail, we’re gonna sculpt this out. I say sculpt, we are sculpting it because I’ve got a tip on. If you want to know how to apply a tip, we have a video just for that, fully dedicated to applying the tip. So check that out. I’m gonna use soft beige. It’s so soft. So, I’m working the cuticle area first, spreading that out, and then we’re gonna come down the nail. I always feel like I am working a little bit backwards when doing this. because I’m tipping the finger away from me. I’m doing that just so it doesn’t flood the cuticle. Don’t forget, I’m using my dodgy hand. Oh my God! got a bit of fluff. Next bead. I’m gonna work this way now. I bet there’s loads of nail technicians out there that absolutely hate doing their own nails because it’s a bit of a chore. It’s frustrating. Adam: Well, I’m gonna get somebody doing the other one. Adam: what about Kaylee we did discuss it Kirsty: I know I’d agree to Kaylee doing them. I hate, I hate it, I hate it, I hate doing my nail, I hate it. Adam: As much as somebody else doing your nails. Kirsty: That’s it. That’s the thing, ain’t it? Do I hate it more than someone else doing them. Do I? I don’t know if I do. That’s not not the most prettiest application I have ever done. They will, it will definitely need a little bit of filing, to say the least. I think Adam could probably do a better job than that, to be honest. Adam: I don’t think so. You let that dry a little bit and then we’re gonna pinch. Adam: I don’t think I ever seen you do an application that bad actually. Kirsty: Ain’t it bad. That’s what I miss with my left hand, it’s just so bad. It’s really bad. I’m looking for some support here, guys. So comment below how beautiful that application is. I’m just gonna pinch out now and let that sit there and let it start to set in. It’ll hold that pinch. Right! I am gonna file this now. Do you think it needs a little bit of balance? Yes a little bit. I’m going to do my normal filing routine which is the sidewalls first And then the cuticle area. And if you notice, I am moving my right hand not my left. And now we’ll file this surface. And again, I’m sort of using both hands at the same time. It’s genius that, doing both hands at the same time. Who knew? So, twisting this hand until we’re going like this because this hand’s very uncontrollably… Adam: Is that like tapping your head and rubbing your belly? Kirsty: I think it is.
Adam: I can do that. Can you do that? Yeah. Yeah. Hold on Adam: Oh. You could play drums Kirsty: oh no i’m patting, Hey y’all….Can’t do it with that one though. What’s wrong? However, I can do this. So, once you’ve filed we gonna buff it at speed of light. See, that dodgy application with the left hand wasn’t that bad, was it? Because look at the end product. Tadaa! It’s not all lumpy bumpy. Yes, it’s took a little bit longer to file in all fairness and we don’t really want to be able to. Well, we don’t want to sit there and file all day. And then, we’re gonna wipe over with pure acetone. I don’t think we’ve mentioned that we’re doing a coffin shape. Well, it’s not coffin, but I know you guys will call it a coffin, but it really is a ballerina. ***** people would call that. It’s basically a stiletto with their end lobbed off but that’s too long to say into that. So what I’m gonna do now is, use the urban graffiti topcoat and we’re using this as a base. Do not use the urban graffiti base because we are going to use the metallics. You need to use the urban graffiti top coat as a base not the base coat. I know that just doesn’t make any sense but I promise you that’s the way to do it. Put that in the lamp. So, we’re gonna use this blue metallic. We will link the number on the name because we’ll have a name by now. We’ll link that below and we’re gonna use it directly on top of the topcoat. That’s gonna give it it’s shine because the topcoat super shiny when we put this on top. It’s gonna dry really shiny. Oh, I hate painting with my left hand. Come on, come on Kirsty, you can do it. Put on quite thin. Don’t be tempted to like, overload it and put thick layer on because what it’ll do, it start to run as it dries and it will not look very pretty. So, we want this to dry. We’re gonna encourage this to dry with the heat from the lamp. I’m gonna coat this with a second layer, nice and thin again. And then, you want it to dry between the layers, it’s got to dry between the layers. Now, that’s dry. I’m gonna top coat that with the urban graffiti topcoat. If you use mega gloss, it diminishes the shine. So, you need to use the urban graffiti topcoat. Adam: Is that the same if you use it on the base? Kirsty: If you use the urban graffiti base, then put the colour on. Adam: No, sorry, I mean mega gloss as a base. Kirsty: No, you can use mega gloss as a base. Adam: But not as a top.
Kirsty: But not as a top. Pop that in the lamp. So, that’s that done, we’re not finished yet though because we’re gonna do some stamping. So, when you get your stamping plates, they will be like this. It will be nice and blue. Well, it looks very much me nails. What you need to do is, take off the blue, it’s a protective layer. Take that off. okay, this is when you will have to be super fast. If you are not, it all goes a bit pear shaped. So, we’re gonna use paint. We’re not gonna use nail varnish or chrome or anything like that. We’re gonna use the poly colour paint to do this. I’m gonna mix…not that, we’re not gonna mix with that. I’m gonna mix with grey. So I’m just gonna use the backing paper from the sculpting form. You need the tiniest amount of black, like that. Tiny bit. You’ll need more white, mix it together because you want to a pale grey, so it matches the dress. You’re not gonna add any water to it or anything like that, using it as it comes out of the tube and we’re gonna be doing it on this pattern here. So you’re gonna get your paint. Pop it on, long enough to cover the design. Now you’re gonna scrape. So it gets as clean as you can get it. Paint will always be a little bit more messy. Straight on. That’s not straight. Oh yes! Ish! That straight? So, this is a subtle pattern that we’re doing on this. It’s not like bang in your face because the lines of the dress are quite subtle but I love those clean lines, and that’s what we’re doing. So, any of the design that you don’t want on, what you’re gonna do is, dip your brush into… believe it or not, monomer. Now, look at that. like a rubber Adam: Eraser.
Kirsty: Yeah Adam: for the americans
Kirsty: Oh yes, an eraser. This is…So, you notice that I used the design at an angle as well because even though, you know, they come in these little squares, you don’t have to always put them on like that. So I twisted this and put it on at that angle, so we have this V coming up here. We’re gonna top coat that to seal. So, I make sure the paint’s dry. To be honest with you, it’ll dry really quickly anyway because it’s so thin. Right! What we’re gonna do is add some bling like I said but we’re going to use it some acrylic, clear acrylic because I’m putting a larger stone on. So I’m gonna put that on this acrylic because it will hold it on better. And when you see this excess acrylic, you’re just gonna scoop it away, taper back and I’m gonna add some blue stones. And again get rid of anything, that’s messy. So, I’m gonna fill this back area with stones. Adam: is that blingy enough for you.
Kirsty: Yeah, I think. And I’ve worked with the shape, so we’ve got that v-shape going on,not Chevron. I’m gonna finish with a bit of cuticle oil. I’ve got the lemon cuticle oil. I think the metallic and the stamping looks pretty cool because you’ve got like that flat matte with the stamping and then the shiny shiny shiny coming through and then, the bling of course obviously. So, there you are guys! The nails are all finished. All I need to do now is, slip this little number on and grab myself a cocktail and get partying. I won’t get too drunk, I promise. All the products we’ve used today will be listed below as always. Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook and Instagram. Give us a thumbs up for my thumb design and I’ll see you guys in the next video. Bye-bye! Oh Oh. Adam: Thank you for just deafening me. You haven’t even got your mic on yet. Kirsty: Oh Oh Oh.
