Easily Embed Youtube Videos in WordPress (and Autoplay in High Definition!)

In this tutorial, I’ll be showing you how
to embed a YouTube video into your website if you’re using WordPress for your business
website just like I’ve done here. Now, I want to show you the easiest way to
embed this video, but I’ll show you other cool stuff such as auto playing the videos
so that when somebody lands on your site, they don’t need to click play – the video
will start automatically. I’ll also show you how to hide the related
video links at the end that automatically pop up, and also how to automatically make
a video play in HD (high definition). To start with, I’ll show you the easiest way
to embed this video in WordPress. Go to your WordPress dashboard. Go to the page or post that you need the video
embedded on. In our case, I will be doing it on the welcome
page. For this part of the tutorial you can do it
either in the visual tab or the text tab. As you may recall the text tab is for inputting
any HTML or code, but in this case we don’t need to worry about that and you’ll see why. All I need to do is copy and paste that URL
right there, and hit update. And that’s it right there. I just deleted the link previously. So all I’ve done is copy and paste the link
and it’s automatically popped up to the maximum width of the page. So if I reduce the width there, you’ll see
that it will follow suit. Now remember this is only because you’re using
WordPress for your business website. If you’re using something else, it won’t be
as simple as copying and pasting that URL. You’ll need to embed the code. You’ll also need to use the embed code to
do the other things that I’m going to show you now. So, let me go back to the dashboard and get
rid of that link. By the way, if you hyperlink this and then
update, it does come up as a link. That automatic embed only happens when it’s
not hyperlinked. Now, the next thing I want to show you is
how to auto play the video so that when the user lands, the video will start playing and
they don’t need to click play. To do that, go back to the video on YouTube,
scroll down, and hit the Embed button. Now, copy this into your WordPress edit box. Now, this is important – you need to remember
to edit this in the Text tab, not the visual tab. If you put this code in the visual tab, it
will just render exactly as it is now. It won’t actually achieve what you’re trying
to do. So you need to go to the text tab because
remember the text tab is to update any HTML or input any code. So paste that in there. To auto play, just follow what I do here:
?autoplay=1 Then Update. Now if I refresh that that should start playing
automatically. There you go. The next thing I want to show you is how to
stop related videos from showing at the end of a video. Now this happens automatically when you’re
in YouTube, and just to clarify what I mean, I’ll show you here. So these are all related videos. Okay. To stop that from displaying, all you need
to do is just go in here, and add: rel=0
Update. Just wait for the page to update, and then
refresh. (That’s our how to make a website video). Now, if we go to the end of that, let’s see
what happens. There you go, the video just stops and there’s
no related video. Just one thing to clarify, you don’t have
to auto play for the related videos not to show up. You can just get rid of that bit there, and
that should work. Nope. Okay. So, that should still be a question mark:
?rel=0 That should work. There you go! The other thing I want to show you is how
to make a video play in High Definition (HD) automatically from the get go. To do that, go back into your HTML and just
follow what I’m doing here. Update. And see there, that video is playing automatically
in high definition. So the user doesn’t have to go in and select
that every time. I hope you found this video useful. Don’t forget, if you have any questions, please
