What's up, everyone?
This is Jeff from the Overwatch Team. We're here with a very quick
Developer Update, but don't worry,
there are more coming very, very soon. So, today I wanted to talk a little bit
about our summer schedule. Now, a lot of you have tracked us
over the years and followed what content we release when, and it's made it so you can kind of
predict what's coming out when. I want to caution you that we're going to
do some things differently this summer. For example, Summer Games, the event is coming back, but it's going to happen much sooner
than it usually happens. You'll learn more about that soon,
but we think you'll be pleased. You'll get Summer Games
even sooner than you expect. That should be cool. There's another change happening
in Summer Games that I also think is pretty awesome,
and we think you'll really enjoy. So, as you know, we've been running
some of these challenge events. We had Baptiste's Reunion Challenge
that we ran. Well, for Summer Games, for each of the 3 weeks
that the event is live, there will be a weekly mini challenge for each of the 3 weeks, where you will be able to unlock
an Epic Skin. So, we think some of the changes to how
we distribute skins and how you get them will be much more compelling and you'll enjoy that a lot more. So, look forward to that, and other little changes coming
to Summer Games in the schedule. That also means, if some of you
have tracked us over the years, what we release when, you're probably anticipating
a hero release sometime very soon. Well, don't worry.
We are working on a hero. Hero number 31 is going to be awesome, but he is going to be released
a little bit later than you're used to. But he'll be here soon enough,
so don't worry. And we think a little bit of extra time is going to make the hero
even more awesome. Besides that, we've been working on
lots of quality-of-life things. You saw subtitles recently got introduced
to the game, which has been fantastic. We'll continue to iterate on that system. We think it's been a really great boon
for people who are hearing-impaired, as well as those of us
who just like to read subtitles and play with closed captions. So, we think that was an awesome addition. Another thing that we're adding, and some of you have noticed it
on the PTR, is we have improved detection
for cheating, and now we will automatically
shut down a match where we detect cheating is happening, and we will make sure that nobody
on either side of the match is penalized for that match being shut down. So, if you're in a competitive match, you won't lose SR
if a cheater's on the other team or a cheater's on your team, and very harsh actions are happening
against that cheater, you can be assured. We think this is just the next evolution
of cheat detection in the game, which is pretty awesome. So, as I mentioned,
I'm going to keep this one really short. We have changes to
the summer schedule coming up. Summer Games is coming sooner
than it usually does. Our summer hero's going to come
a little bit later than it normally does, but it will be worth the wait. We've done improvements to things
like subtitles and cheat detection, and there are a couple more
Developer Updates coming very, very soon that I think you'll be
extremely excited about. So, thank you very much, and we hope you're having a blast
playing Overwatch.
